Garrett McMillan

Partner, McMillan & Black. Mr. McMillan litigates frequently under the DTPA and is currently representing consumers against solar panel companies across the state. He also specializes in defamation defense and has extensive experience litigating under the Texas Anti-SLAPP Law. Mr. McMillan practices both trial and appellate law, and has experience with personal guarantees, bills of review, as well as general business and contract litigation. He is licensed in the Northern and Western Districts of Texas, as well as the 5th Circuit.

David Austin Black

Partner, McMillan & Black. Mr. Black began his practice working as an attorney for one of the largest corporate immigration law firms in the nation. He then transitioned into a position involving more practical law, ranging from representing clients in multi-million dollar commercial construction lawsuits to winning judgments against unscrupulous HOA's. Mr. Black grew up in the DFW area and received his Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Texas School of Law.

Jesse Buttery

Senior Associate, McMillan & Black. Mr. Buttery was born in Dallas but grew up in South Texas, in the Rio Grande Valley.  He obtained his J.D. from South Texas College of Law in Houston, Texas.  He is licensed as an attorney in Texas and Federal Court in the Northern and Southern District.  He has practiced medical malpractice law, personal injury law, business law and civil trial law for most of his career, for both Plaintiffs and Defendants.  He has handled complex cases at all stages, including trial and appeal. Mr. Buttery has experience dealing with cases involving tort claims including but not limited to death and serious bodily injury, medical malpractice, vehicle collision, injury at work, slip and fall, construction law, business litigation, governmental entities involving the Texas Tort Claims Act, consumer disputes, including consumer protection suits, and school law.  He has also represented local government entities including cities in their enforcement of code and local ordinances.

Michael Sheetz

Of Counsel, McMillan & Black. Mr. Sheetz is a Dallas native. After graduating summa cum laude from Southern Methodist University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, Michael attended SMU’s Dedman School of Law, earning his Juris Doctorate in 2015. After working for two years in the field of criminal law, including a year-and-a-half of service as an Assistant District Attorney in McLennan County, Texas, Michael transferred into private practice in the areas of real estate, probate, and commercial law.

Braden Burleson

Associate, McMillan & Black. Braden Burleson is a Dallas-based trial attorney who earned his J.D. from the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law and has been licensed in Texas since 2022.

He has represented clients throughout Texas in district and county courts, serving as lead counsel on more than 160 cases and trying thirteen cases as first chair. Braden’s practice has focused heavily on personal injury and civil litigation, including complex vehicle and trucking accident matters. He has conducted numerous mediations and depositions, argued summary judgment motions, coordinated with medical and accident reconstruction experts, and helped secure significant settlements, including a $1.5 million resolution.

Prior to his civil practice, Braden gained substantial courtroom and appellate experience through criminal defense clinics and federal habeas work. He brings disciplined preparation, courtroom confidence, and a practical, results-driven approach to every matter he handles.

Sarah Walsh

Of Counsel, McMillan & Black. Sarah Walsh is a Texas-licensed attorney who earned her Juris Doctor from the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University and holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from Lee University. She has been licensed in Texas since 2020.

Ms. Walsh has extensive experience representing and advising governmental entities and municipalities. She has prosecuted matters in municipal courts across multiple counties, drafted and reviewed petitions, discovery, motions, ordinances, and resolutions, and provided counsel to city councils, commissions, boards, and staff. Her work includes attending and advising at public meetings, preparing Attorney General ruling requests, reviewing and drafting contracts, and assisting government bodies with policy implementation.

In addition to her municipal practice, Ms. Walsh has represented individuals in municipal, county, and district courts, drafting motions and briefs, advocating in hearings, and guiding clients through complex criminal proceedings. She brings practical courtroom experience, strong legal research and drafting skills, and a commitment to public service to every matter she handles.
